It’s becoming very expensive to smoke in Australia. The average smoker smokes about 25 cigarettes a day which equates to about $ 8000 per year. I don’t know about you but that is a lot of money.
Think about it, what could you do with an extra $ 8000? You could use it to have fun or to pay off some debts or invest it. Either way it’s a nice bit of extra money.
I am getting more and more people coming to me to stop smoking because of the cost. Whilst this is a factor in quitting smoking it is not a major factor. I don’t know if you have noticed but you will always seem to find money to buy cigarettes and or alcohol.
If you look at people who do not earn much money you will see that they will still find money to but cigarettes and or alcohol. Whist money and the cost of smoking is a motivational factor in quitting smoking it is not a good one if it is the only one. If you are thinking of quitting smoking just because of money chances are that you will not be too successful.
If money is just the motivator to quit smoking then it means that you do not see that it harms you. If you can see that smoking is a major cause of harm then it is a different story. Most of us do not want to harm ourselves and we will prevent this by taking ourselves out of harm’s way ie; stop smoking.
Although the expense of smoking is a factor in quit smoking it should not be the only and main one. If it is then the chances of you stopping smoking are severely reduced.
Be honest with yourself and really look at the consequences of your smoking habit and decide if those consequences are worth it.
Hypnosis is a very successful way to quit smoking but you need to have more than the cost of smoking to be successful.
