I always tell my clients at quit smoking in 60 minutes in Capalaba that their smoking is a habit. This is proved by the fact that everyone who smokes associates the act of smoking with the things that they do in their day and lives. There are certain things that trigger off the need to smoke.
Some of the more common things that trigger smoking are coffee, after meals, stress, and boredom, driving and drinking alcohol. These are by no means all the triggers for smoking and they vary from the ordinary to the downright strange.
What I have noticed is that with the ease of having mobile phones, talking on these phones has become more and more of a common trigger to smoke. A strange trigger is the urge to smoke a cigarette as a reward. Just think about that! Why would something that will shorten your lifespan and expose you to some horrible diseases be a reward?
When I ask people to think about their triggers at quit smoking in 60 minutes they often see that they have been really been underestimating how much they smoke. One client even remarked to me that it was a wonder that he found the time to do anything else but smoke.
To successfully quit smoking cigarettes all the things that trigger your smoking need to be addressed. Each and every trigger needs to be broken and dissociated from your life for you to become a non-smoker.
