Recently I was talking to a friend who said he would never allow himself to be hypnotised as he was putting control of his life into the hands of the hypnotherapist.
Nothing could be further from the truth. The truth is that you cannot be made to do something that you do not want to do. A lot of us perceive hypnosis from stage shows and TV. Let’s make one thing clear here, stage hypnosis is different from clinical hypnosis. In the case of stage hypnosis, there are always people willing to do outrageous things as they are out for a good time. About 20% of the audience falls into this category. The stage hypnotist is always careful to pick these people. He does this by doing things called convincers which are ways for him to see how hypnotisable a person is. When you go to a stage show, you will always see the hypnotist send people back into the audience, these are usually people who are not responding to his suggestions.
When you are trying to break a habit such as smoking, you must want to quit. Everybody that smokes needs to quit but is your want greater than your need to quit? If you do not want to quit, then you will not! You can use every treatment under the sun, but if you don’t want to, you won’t quit. You see, you are in control, and you cannot be made to do something that you don’t want to do.
You are in control in hypnosis all hypnosis is self-hypnosis, and it is up to you whether you go into a hypnotic trance.
