Smoking is a suicidal habit that can lead to an early and miserable death. It is like playing Russian Roulette and wondering when the bullet will hit you because it is inevitable! Almost everybody I see wants to quit smoking because their health is deteriorating.
Suicidal Habit of Smoking
One woman wanted to quit smoking cigarettes when she realised she was looking older than her younger friends. She was only 36 years old and she was right. Another man hated the control cigarettes and smoking had over him. The side effects of smoking creep up on you. Suddenly you find you don’t have as much energy. You wake up coughing! The slightest bit of exercise and you feel the shortness of breath. The symptoms of the chemicals in cigarettes only kick in from about the mid-thirties, but it takes almost another decade until the impact is really felt. Most of my clients are from the late-thirties upwards. I see very few people who are in the younger age bracket.
Many Ways to Quit
There are many ways to stop smoking. You can stop and go cold turkey and some people succeed doing this. You can use pills, potions, patches – Champax (these now banned, thank goodness!) But you will find that the most effective way to stop smoking cigarettes is to replace the habit of smoking with something else. If you do not do this, the habit of smoking will come back again as soon as a trigger is activated. That trigger could be a smell, a sound, a song, a meal, or an emotion like anger or stress. It can be anything which in the past was linked to you having a smoke. It is essential to replace one habit (your smoking habit) with another new healthy habit (breathing fresh air) otherwise the chances of succeeding are slim to none.
Choose the Right Habit
Many smokers say they are afraid to quit smoking. Why? Because last time they weren’t successful or they picked up another habit to replace the smoking. Usually, the new habit is excess eating or excess drinking alcohol. Both lead to weight gain! So a smoker relates quitting with getting fat! This is because the habit of smoking was replaced by the habit of eating or drinking, not because they quit cigarettes.
Hypnosis Works
I know I am biased but if you do your research you will see that hypnosis is one of the best ways to quit smoking. The secret to quitting smoking is to replace the habit of smoking with another habit. It makes sense to do this rather than just remove a habit and leave a gap in the subconscious.
If you are serious about stopping smoking cigarettes, do your research and look closely at hypnosis.
