Electronic Cigarettes

The World Health Organisation has just come out with a recommendation that electronic cigarettes are harmful. In the past they have endorsed the electronic cigarette as there has not been enough evidence that the electronic cigarette is harmful.
The electronic cigarette is just another way to deliver nicotine to the body and anybody that thinks that nicotine is not harmful is deluding themselves. Nicotine is a stimulant and when it enters the body it causes the blood vessels to constrict. By doing this it increases your blood pressure and thus your chances of stroke. By constricting your blood vessels nicotine interferes […]

How Effective is Hypnosis for Quitting?

The following is an article I believe is an indepth analysis of the effectiveness of Hypnosis for Quitting smoking by John Mongiovo – New York Hypnosis.   (Website details at bottom of post for more info)

Here is a brief review of some of the research evidence on the effectiveness of hypnosis:
90.6% Success Rate for Smoking Cessation Using Hypnosis
Of 43 consecutive patients undergoing this treatment protocol, 39 reported remaining abstinent from tobacco use at follow-up (6 months to 3 years post-treatment). This represents a 90.6% success rate using hypnosis.

It’s Only Nicotine

I recently had a customer at Quit Smoking in 60 minutes in Capalaba who told me that she had given up smoking but chewed nicotine gum so that she stayed a non-smoker.
Whilst this is healthier than smoking cigarettes it still takes its toll on your life. Nicotine is a highly poisonous substance and it is only the heat of your body, which causes a molecular change that prevents the nicotine from killing you. It doesn’t make sense to introduce such a substance into your body.
Nicotine causes your blood vessels to constrict, by doing this it increases your blood pressure […]

Some Chemicals Found in Cigarettes

Here are some hidden ingredients you can find in a cigarette. The toluene in glue and cigarettes is a toxic substance that produces euphoria and irritation of the airways and lungs. Cadmium is extremely poisonous and can be found in cigarettes, it results in kidney damage. Tar is an ingredient found in roads and tires as well as cigarettes. A two pack a day smoker inhales one gram of tar a day. That is a quart of thick, gooey tar inhaled a year. Mothballs contain naphthalenes, also found in cigarettes. This proven poison causes reproductive and brain breakdown. The arsenic […]

Labels

In this day and age it is easier to label everything. It seems as everything has to be put into a box by labelling it. Not only do we have people labelling us but we label ourselves. As with everything in life there is a benefit and a drawback of being labelled.
When you are labelled something your actions in life reflect the label. If you have labelled yourself as a smoker then you think like a smoker and act like a smoker. If you are fulfilling this label then it becomes more difficult to quit smoking. You may not […]

Smoking is a Habit

Habit can be defined as: an acquired pattern of behavior that often occurs automatically (Wikipedia)
Habits are routines of behavior that are repeated regularly and tend to occur subconsciously. The American Journal of Psychology defines habit as: “A habit, from the standpoint of psychology, is a more or less fixed way of thinking, willing, or feeling acquired through previous repetition of a mental experience.” Habitual behavior often goes unnoticed in persons exhibiting it, because a person does not need to engage in self-analysis when undertaking routine tasks. Habituation is an extremely simple form of learning, in which an organism, after […]

Is Nicotine Beneficial?

For quite a few people, nicotine provides the benefits that some people get from caffeine or Ritalin: it helps them focus and be more productive, overcoming attention-deficit-type problems. For some people, nicotine provides relief from stress, anxiety, or panic. For people suffering from some severe mental illnesses, nicotine seems to provide great relief, which probably explains why a very large fraction of psychiatric patients smoke.
Nicotine is also suspected as the reason for the lower incidence of Parkinson’s Disease among smokers. And for those who have it, nicotine appears to reduce the associated symptoms.
Laws against smoking in public places are often […]

Accept Suggestions

Just recently at Quit Smoking Expert in Capalaba I had someone who found it really difficult to go into trance. Before the process I had emphasised to him that he would need to accept all my suggestions 100% with no questions asked. I told him that he if did not accept my suggestions or questioned them the process of going into trance would not work. I also emphasised that I would not give him any inappropriate suggestions as he would not accept them and that it would not be good for my business if I had clients saying that I […]
