Quit Smoking – accept suggestions

For any hypnosis to succeed in helping a person to quit smoking the client must be prepared to accept suggestions 100% no questions asked.

You have two minds; the conscious and the unconscious. The conscious mind is the questioning part of the mind and analyses things. The unconscious mind is where all the patterns are and it is like a 5-year-old, it will accept things with no question.
In hypnosis, the conscious mind is put to one side so that the hypnotist can give suggestions to the unconscious mind. If you question the suggestions being given to you then the conscious mind […]

Dream to Succeed!

Many of us dream(visualise) of what sort of holidays, house, life we want but very few of us dream of how it is going to be when we quit smoking cigarettes.
Sure we may dream after quitting but how many of us dream before we decide to stop smoking . We get what we think about. Think about succeeding at quitting smoking cigarettes and it will happen, think about not succeeding and it will also happen.
What I am getting at is that if you want to increase your chances of quitting smoking then start thinking of yourself as a non- smoker […]

Am I in hypnosis?

I comment I frequently get from clients after doing quit smoking is, was I in hypnosis? The question here is what is a hypnotic trance? This is a hard question to answer as we all go into hypnotic trance in different ways and it varies from time to time.
There are many definitions of hypnosis but I like; “hypnosis is a state of focus and acceptance that causes a change of state”.
We all spend our lives going in and out of trance, in fact we will probably spend about 70% to 80% of our lives in a hypnotic trance. The easiest […]

Why Quit Smoking?

The 4 main reasons why people come to quit smoking cigarettes is:
• They are worried about their health
• The control that smoking has over them
• The cost of smoking
• Family
Interestingly enough the cost of smoking, although it often comes up, is never a main motivation to stop smoking. People will always find money to smoke cigarettes. On average, it costs someone $8000 per year to smoke. The question is why do people spend so much money on a habit that in most cases is slowly but surely killing them?
The saying, there’s safety in numbers, is very true as we are […]

Can I be hypnotised?

When using hypnosis to help people quit smoking one of the most common questions asked of me is; can I be hypnotised?
The answer is that only a few people cannot be hypnotised. These are people with a low IQ or certain mental problems. Of course, if you do not want to be hypnotised and you resist then you will not be hypnotised.
All hypnosis is, is a state of focus and acceptance that causes a change of state. We all spend our lives going in and out of hypnotic trance. In fact, we spend about 70 to 80 percent of our […]

Quit Smoking and Breathe Fresh Air

Smoking is a habit; all the research shows that nicotine is not addictive. The secret to stop smoking is to replace the habit of smoking with another habit.
With most ways of quitting smoking the habit is removed but nothing replaces it. This leaves a gap in the unconscious mind. Nature does not like gaps so will fill that gap, usually by you going back to smoking. That’s why people go back to smoking after quitting. That gap needs to be filled with another habit.
This gap can be filled with other habits like exercise or eating. The problem here is that […]

Smoking, Past Connections

I sometimes get people who just not seem to be able to quit smoking. They try everything and yet they still cannot quit.
Often the reason for this is the connection of their smoking with stress and trauma of the past. If your smoking is linked to this then you will not stop smoking cigarettes.
Let’s say in the past a person has had a serious accident and abuse. If the brain does not turn these incidents into a memory then the person is stuck in flight, fright or freeze. Being in a constant state of this manifests itself as […]

Replace Smoking With?

Many people stop smoking cigarettes and then start again. They may only give up for a short time or a long time and then they start smoking again. Why is this?

Your habit of smoking cigarettes resides in the subconscious. When you quit smoking using willpower, patches, pills or needles you leave a gap in the subconscious mind. It is like ripping out a piece of the subconscious. The brain not like having a gap in the subconscious and so will look for a way to fill the gap.
The gap is usually filled by you going back to smoking. You can […]

Darn!! Started Again!

Around about 5% of the clients that come to see me to quit smoking with hypnosis start smoking again. Why is this so? I have been doing some analysis of our clients and have come up with two main reasons why people who quit smoking with us using hypnosis start smoking again.

The first reason is that the client did not really want to quit smoking. You would think that if somebody came to see me they really did want to quit. Everybody that smokes needs to quit smoking cigarettes but not everybody wants to. There is a big difference between […]

I can’t seem to Quit!

Just about everybody that smokes tries to quit smoking at one time or another. They quit for a time and then go back to smoking. Why is this?
When you stop smoking cigarettes you leave a gap in the subconscious mind. The mind does not like gaps and will try to fill that gap, usually by getting you to go back to smoking. That’s what the cravings are all about.
In most cases people resort to hypnotherapy to stop smoking cigarettes after they have exhausted every other avenue. This is a shame as hypnosis is probably the most successful way to stop […]
