Lung Cancer and Smoking

One of the biggest reasons why people want to quit smoking is health, in particular the fear of lung cancer from smoking.
Lung cancer causes more than one million deaths globally each year, including 6000 deaths in Australia – more than any other type of cancer.
There have been only slight improvements in lung cancer survival in the past 25 years. Research into lung cancer is focused on developing new ways to detect and treat lung cancer through a better understanding of its biology.
lung cancer researchers are now focused on:
• Understanding how normal lung cells develop, to determine what goes wrong when […]

Replace Smoking With?

Many people stop smoking cigarettes and then start again. They may only give up for a short time or a long time and then they start smoking again. Why is this?

Your habit of smoking cigarettes resides in the subconscious. When you quit smoking using willpower, patches, pills or needles you leave a gap in the subconscious mind. It is like ripping out a piece of the subconscious. The brain not like having a gap in the subconscious and so will look for a way to fill the gap.
The gap is usually filled by you going back to smoking. You can […]

Death, the ripple effect

It’s well know that for the majority of long term smokers your life will be shortened and the chances of a miserable death are quite high.
A lot of people say that they are not afraid of dying because they are thinking that their death will be quick. In the vast majority of cases death from long term smoking is usually prolonged and a miserable process.
This type of death can have quite a ripple effect on members of your family and friends. The most common causes of death from smoking are cancer and heart attack. You may argue that the heart […]

Social Smoking can Kill You!

When people classify themselves as social smokers it almost seems as if it is different from other smokers and that it is acceptable and OK.
Social smokers define themselves as people who may only smoke over the weekend, at a party or when they have a drink. In other words, they do not smoke regularly.
The problem is that when you smoke, either regularly or socially you are still introducing foreign chemicals that cause health issues into your body. You are still introducing nicotine that interferes with blood circulation and can cause strokes.
Social smoking is not acceptable from a health point of […]

Smoking is cool

More often than not people start smoking at school because all their friends are doing it and it is “cool”.
Smoking at an early age increases the chances of you continuing to smoke into your adulthood and it can have some severe effects in your later years. These effects are:

■ Tired muscles and delayed growth
■ Thick, sticky blood – making the heart work too hard
■ Failure to launch (lower ability to achieve an erection)
■ More belly fat
■ Zits Risks associated with continued use
■ Blindness
■ Arthritis and weak bones
■ Decreased circulation in toes or feet (possible amputations)
■ Heart attack and cancer

Smoking and Health

We all know that smoking is not good for your health. In fact, smoking is the leading factor to heart disease and cancer.
The biggest problem is that the effects of smoking are not usually felt until about the age of 30 or so. It’s only then that you start to become aware of shortness of breath, lack of energy, persistent cough etc.
In the past it was thought that once you had damaged your body with smoking the damage could not be repaired. The good news is that your body can repair the damage from smoking. The earlier you quit […]

Dream to Succeed

Many of us dream(visualise) of what sort of holidays, house, life we want but very few of us dream of how it is going to be when we quit smoking cigarettes.
Sure we may dream after quitting but how many of us dream before we decide to stop smoking. We get what we think about. Think about succeeding at quitting smoking and it will happen, think about not succeeding and it will happen.
What I am getting at is that if you want to increase your chances of quitting smoking then start thinking of yourself as a non- smoker before even attempting […]

It takes time

It’s well know that smoking cigarettes leads to a multitude of illnesses and that it shortens your life.
Even though smoking causes health problems one of the biggest problems is that the health related problems associated with smoking only really become apparent around the age of 40. Before that age you don’t notice the shortness of breath and other related symptoms.
The majority of people who decide to quit smoking fall into the age group of 40 and above. This is because at around 40 the effects of smoking cigarettes become apparent. The most common symptom is the lack of breath and […]

Darn!! Started Again!

Around about 5% of the clients that come to see me to quit smoking with hypnosis start smoking again. Why is this so? I have been doing some analysis of our clients and have come up with two main reasons why people who quit smoking with us using hypnosis start smoking again.

The first reason is that the client did not really want to quit smoking. You would think that if somebody came to see me they really did want to quit. Everybody that smokes needs to quit smoking cigarettes but not everybody wants to. There is a big difference between […]

Quitting due to Societal Pressure

There is a lot of pressure from society for people to quit smoking. People are being ostracised and it is getting harder and harder to find a place to smoke. Apart from this the cost of smoking cigarettes is getting more and more.

I have a friend who says that he really enjoys smoking, he says that it is his special something and that he does not want to give up. His family frequently put pressure on him to stop smoking and he says at times he feels that he is almost being bullied.

If you enjoy smoking cigarettes and you decide […]
